Tiles
Ceramic tiles are what most people think of immediately when they think of tiles. Mostly made from pressed clay, commonly these tiles are glazed which allows them to be produced in a huge range of colours, finishes and textures.
Quarry tiles are also made from clay, but usually a mixture of different clays and are typically left unglazed. These are ideal for a more natural, rustic feel. Typically available in a range of russet tones, from warm terracottas to earthy browns and deep reds. These tiles are commonly used for tiling interior floors, although you may want to have a sealant applied to the surface to prevent stains.
Tiles specifically designed for producing mosaics are generally much smaller than other tiles. If you want an 'off-the-shelf' design they are supplied laid out in the pattern (in reverse) on a sheet of thin plastic. This allows them to be laid quickly and simply with no errors. For custom patterns, they are also available loose, so that you can build up your own design, but this is time consuming and typically for those who want a DIY project or a logo in a commercial setting.
Natural stone tiles are becoming more and more popular, both for floors and worksurfaces. SCP Tiling are expert with natural stone tiles and you can rely on our laying service, giving you a gorgeous finish with any stone.
